Q&A: Need help on making a movie trailer?

Question by kenmonkey1995: Need help on making a movie trailer?
So yeah, I need to make a movie trailer about a book called “Unwind” for school. Me and my group really want to make a good trailer so that we can pass the class. The only problem is, we have no experience or knowledge on making trailers. We have to get this done in 2 weeks but we have no idea what to do. Can somebody please help me by giving me some info about movie making and editing and stuff?

Hey!

The best thing to do is watch a trailer and figure out what makes it so interesting to you and your friends then use those same techniques. Most trailers (not all) never show a major twist and ruin the ending. They leave you guessing.
Will you be filming the trailer yourselves or using clips from other movies and combining them? Either way, don’t just have a person standing there or not doing anything and have everything all in writing.
I just read a quick summary of the book Unwind. Show the three teens doing what they’re known for. Fighting, playing Piano etc

As for a good program that is free to use, if you go to the Adobe website and download Adobe Premiere, you get a free 30 day trial, so plenty of time for you to get this done. Have background music in the trailer that is sort of creepy but not like a horror movie.

Just do the best you can and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. The teacher is there to help! 🙂
