Q&A: Movie Editing Software Help?

Question by Aliwawa: Movie Editing Software Help?
Okay so I’m on WMM doing a split screen thing, and its pretty crap because of the fact that when you import video to WMM, it splits it up into smaller clips. Which means that though I can make the other half the same length, etc. it fades out and stops every time a little clip ends. I hope that makes sense. Does anyone know how to help??

Alternatively, another way of doing split screen would be just grand.
Like very grand.
THANKS

Jesus Christ I can’t imagine how difficult your problem is…

Um, have you tried rendering the segments that make up the 1st side of the split screen into one file and the same to the other side of the split screen?

(Like, merging all the segments of one part together using the rendering option. I think you’d do this by using the time line.)

From my experience with editing software, if I had a bunch of segments of one single part that I had edited I would render all the segments into one file then put it back on the timeline and edit whatever else I wanted to edit about it.

Like:

Say I have 5 files and they’re all pieces to one single thing that I wanted to edit. So, instead of editing each segment one by one, I’d just render all the segments together and then use that whole segment and edit it by its self.

In your case:

You need to pull down all the segments of one side of the split screen and then render them all as one. Do the same to the other segments of the other side of the split screen.

PS. If you don’t know what rendering is, it’s done by dragging all your clips into the storyline then clicking “File” and then clicking, “Save Movie File.”

Err, sorry if this was a lot to read. But I hope it helps your problem.
