Q&A: I have no future, please help me!?
Question by stargirl: I have no future, please help me!?
I am 19 years old. Since, I was a little kid, I dream of working in a traditional animation art studio making 2-D animated movies. I always wanted to do that, since I saw the Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast. Then when some studios started making CGI movies, at first, I thought they were cool. Then, in 2004, when Disney decided not to make 2-D animated movies anymore, I felt crushed!! I wasted my whole life dreaming and practicing drawing to be a Disney animator!! I took a class in learning how to make 3-D animation and it was terrible!! I couldn’t get the basics right! the software, Maya, took me 17 hours longer to create something than a hand-drawn piece would normally do! I was creating a 3-minute movie for our class project and I had trouble making it b/c the stupid software kept messing up my stuff-even when I saved my project, the software still messed up my movie, which is why my movie project sucked!!! (It also, sucked b/c of the topic that my mom made me do, which, according to my sister, would be more suitable for a live-action movie than it would for a CGI movie). I got a C in the class, but my mom SCREAMED at me and called me a “fake artist” and falsely accusssed me for not loving art and for wasting my whole life doing art when I didn’t love it! I don’t know if I love art or not!! I can’t think of another career I want to have, b/c of my learning disability (I have a language disorder and a slight hearing problem) and b/c I’m not good at anything else other than hand-drawing! I tried taking career personality tests, but none of them worked for me!!! Is there hope for me at all!!?!?!?!!!!? Do I have to move to Japan if I want to work in making 2-D animated movies? What career can a girl with a language disorder problem and a slight hearing problem have? I don’t want to push carts at grocery stores for the rest of my life!!
It was an accident!
