Q&A: How to make most compatible dvd movies out of avi files.?

Question by Stash O: How to make most compatible dvd movies out of avi files.?
Here it goes. I had a bunch of .avi files that I burned with NeroVision to make into a dvd-video disc to play on a normal dvd (this instance being my ps2). I sucessfully burned the disc and saw it worked fine with on my computer’s dvd player but my ps2 wasn’t able to read it.

I know that my dvd burner and dvd-r can make dvd movies to play on my ps2 because I had a disc image I burnt and it was completely playable on my ps2.

What I want to know is what program I should use that will allow me to make dvd-video discs out of several avi files and insure the most compatibility with dvd players. I’d like something not too complicated but I am willing to learn it if will get me the results I desire. Just to re-iterate, the dvd’s i want to make will be made up for several video files, it won’t be just one long movie.

Please let me know if you need any clarification. Thank you for your time.
