Q&A: Does spy movie, voice technology really exist? Can a voice sample be expanded to say something else?

Question by on a mission: Does spy movie, voice technology really exist? Can a voice sample be expanded to say something else?
I guess it’s obvious that I’m not CIA but I need to know for a business venture with kids in mind. Basically, I intend to record audio of multiple scripts using individual voices for narration. I need to be able to do this on a mass level and was hoping that spy gadget stuff where a voice is recreated (normal sounding, not robotic) using a sample, really existed. Or maybe there is some branch off of the voice recognition thing. I’m not much of a techie, so I hope this make sense. Hopefully somone can direct me. Sorry I can’t you offer more details about my Mission but …well you know the rest!
