Need Help Making a Movie.?

Question by GRAW: Need Help Making a Movie.?
I know it’s long.

Okay, so this whole thing started as a joke. You see, at lunch, I go around sticking my fingers in people and twisting them around (this act is referred to as “skizzling”). I also scream at them “I AM THE SKIZZLER!!!” They all think it’s hilarious. They’re also all really into TV production and the movies industry, so we’ve decided to make a movie about “The Skizzler”. I’m playing the lead and also writing the screenplay.

The Skizzler starts out as a completely normal guy. But then some tragic things happen to him (isolation from his only true friend, severe rejection from his love interest) and he is catapulted into a dark mental state. He gets into a car accident. Instead of staying in the car, he tries to kill himself by jumping out the car door, hoping for more direct, fatal contact with the other car at the last moment. He lives, but his hands become almost flattened and grossly disfigured. The doctors put wires into each of his index fingers, extending them by about 3 or 4 inches.

When he is released from the hospital, The Skizzler encounters even more isolation and people recoil at his mere presence. Soon, he realizes that he is destined to live a life of loneliness and becomes even more depressed. Since he knows that nobody will love him, he tries to eliminate all signs of love around him. Nobody will even touch him, so he touches them “to death” by means of skizzling them (how exactly skizzling is fatal still needs to be worked out). The Skizzler’s world has crumbled around him and he wants to crumble the rest of the world.

The thing, though, is that this is supposed to be a comedy. But I want to have it be a tragedy with many underlying, recurring comedic moments. The reason I want it to be a tragedy is for my own catharsis. My problem is that I don’t know how to start off this story on a light note. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
And yes, I AM serious.

Okay, I can see this working – especially if it is really going to be a comedy/tragedy. In order to start it out on a light note and to set it up to make sense, I’d have he movie start out with the main character doing something with his friend that he later gets isolated from. Make it something comical and fun, like pulling off an elaborate prank or something. Let it be something that will be in stark contrast to the tragedy that he will face later on and maybe something that includes some foreshadowing. Maybe have it be something that will give him the nickname The Skizzler… Anyway, there are some ideas – only you can come up with what will truly work, since you understand the character and know more plot details. Good luck!
