Multi-tone cake and swirls

Facebook: www.facebook.com Link to all my videos: www.youtube.com Ow, my arm is still aching, it was getting better but my girls and I were goofing around last night and it’s right back to down to my knees again. My kitchen is like an icebox in the winter! Great for caking though ;D If you haven’t already, check out tonedna1’s video on how to frost a cake: www.youtube.com I started trying this method and I really like it! I’ve always used the icer tip because I was never able to frost a cake without getting crumbs in the frosting. Even with a crumb coat, I still would get crumbs! I read on many sites, saw it on tv, that you should never let your spatula touch the cake. Well, my spatula wasn’t touching the cake but still the crumbs. What I recently discovered is that yes, your spatula shouldn’t touch the frosting, but also there should be a little bulge of frosting that you can push across the cake with the spatula. Watch the my video again, there’s always a little bulge just in front of the spatula and that’s what’s keeping the crumbs from getting mixed in. If you’d like to buy the scraper I used in the video send me an email: me@seriouscakes.com Here’s a link to the site where I first saw this kind of cake: www.eatcake.ca A picture of one of their versions: www.eatcake.ca I love their work, it’s nearly
