I bought a digital camcorder as a gift, it has 128MB of internal memory. What length of movie can you make with a memory card NOT in the camera. Or if a memory card is basically essential to make a movie of any real length what size chip would you recommend for a camcorder.

If the camcorder is recording in 720p (e.g. 19 Mbps) that 128MB of memory will disappear in 53 seconds. FullHD is even worse, 41 seconds.
For the YouTube crowd, a 4GB memory card is a good starting point – about 20-25 minutes worth of video recording. You can work up from there. The more, the merrier.
