Making movie but my camera is…?

Question by crazywhiteboy: Making movie but my camera is…?
I’m making a movie but I only have one video camera. It’s a canon fs200 if anyone wanted to know and it’s just a consumer camcorders. It shoots at 460p(I think) so the picture quality pretty good just it’s kinda hard to film a bunch of angles with just one camera. I also have the iPod touch 4 generation which has a video camera that shoots at 720p.but no zoom.so do u guys think it will be a good idea to shoot some parts of the movie with my iPod???

The resolution is nowhere near as important as the quality of the camera. Yes, the iPod technically has a higher resolution, but unless you have bright lights all the time, the picture will look bad. Because the entire camera is very small, it can’t collect very much light, and that means it has to try to digitally brighten the image, something it can’t do well. Also, the iPod has pretty much no focus (it’s just set to infinity all the time) and no zoom (unless you get an app for it, and digital zoom typically looks crappy). And usually this is fine, since you’ll just be using it to take stupid pictures with your friends. They compromise quality of the camera with its size; you don’t want to be carrying around a big camcorder all the time, do you?
The Canon, however, is a dedicated camcorder. It has no other purpose in life, so it better take video well. So you have all the things the iPod doesn’t, plus a bit more. Easily the biggest is optical zoom (look up digital vs. optical zoom for details), along with the ability to focus.
So unless you have to film from multiple places at the same time, so you need more than one camera, use the dedicated video camera.
