Mac or PC need advice from the experts?

Question by DemonSniper739: Mac or PC need advice from the experts?
I’m in the market to buy a new computer I have a PC now and want to upgrade nothing really wrong with my PC just want to make a change. I have things that I need to be able to do and want to make sure I get the most bang for my buck.

1. I need to be able to edit Video’s and Music. Also burn them to DVD/CD
2. Edit Full Motion Video and Add special effect.
3. I need the speed and stability so I will not loose my work.
4. I need at least 2 to 3 monitor support.

I do professional music video for local music artist and local movies nothing big. However I need to
make sure I have a system that will stay up and handle everything I need to do.

My computer I have now has windows XP 3 GB or RAM and 2 500 GB Hard drive. I can do what I need but I have to make sure I save often cause sometimes windows XP goes bye. I have a 2 GHZ processor in the machine also.

If you say MAC what type of software should I buy. I use adobe and Sony Vega Pro now. Does the mac have better video and audio editing software.

Thanks

David
Well as for editing I will take a clip of the movie and overlay the music in the back ground or if I doing a music video edit. I will lay in the video and music but sometimes have to edit out the back ground noise. I had Pro Tools before on the PC didn’t like the way it do so went to Sonar.

A Mac comes with all the basics to cover that, minus 3 monitor support, at least out of the box. You can hook up two monitors (or a second monitor) to any Mac, but for three you’d either need a sort of video splitter (dunno if there are any that’ll work on a Mac, but they’re out there) or a Mac Pro.

iMovie is good for the basics, but if you need something more, Final Cut Express may do the trick. You can also get the Adobe Suite on a Mac. Garageband works for your basic audio, but if you need more, there’s always Logic, Pro Tools, or any number of third party editors, depending on what you need to do.
