Indiana Jones, Star Wars movie poster filter or technique on photoshop?

Question by Sam: Indiana Jones, Star Wars movie poster filter or technique on photoshop?
Is there a way to take pictures and make them look drawn like in these posters or would I have to be an excellent artist and draw them by hand?

there are a mixture of posters, with art illustration and photos, you could try taking photo and convert to posterised comic type image, use several layers to convert main image to outlines, thresholds, posterize, and filters to apply newsprint, halftones, use different layers and combine, and adjust layer modes for alternative effects,

you could use illustrator, and edit outlines, or photoshop to us pen tool to convert lines, and continue to edit in photoshop, before computers and still today, art work is drawn and designed by hand,
