I’d like to make a simple movie with my friends. How should we do this?

Question by ~Claire~ FutureFilmmaker: I’d like to make a simple movie with my friends. How should we do this?
I want to be a Film Director when I’m older. I figured, maybe I could round up some friends and neighbor kids and put together some sort of movie.

How should we do it? Should we do a remake of a popular film, just for laughs? Or come up with our own plot and write our own scripts?

I have access to the following:
*Simple editing software, until I can buy more expensive programs
*A nice handheld video camera.
*I have between 10-20 actors, maybe 25 IFFFF I’m lucky. (Mostly teenagers and children between the ages of 3-7)
*My brother is a writer, so I could potentially have him write up a script or we could use a previously made one. He could also interpret and create a new script for an older film.
*I have access to millions of stores, a school, a cinema, and pets.
*I could use adults if necessary.
*I have all the time in the world, it’s not an assignment. I’m just doing this for my own fun to see my capabilities.. my creative mind.

Any ideas and steps to create it would be AWESOME!

Im a film & media major and id just say go mess around and shoot stuff you can make up on the spot. After you do that if you think of some idea you wanna do then you could possibly script it but starting out you don’t need to worrie about that so much. Learn to use the equipment first. In time you can get more in depth.
