I need a program to convert .mpg files to flv for youtube?

Question by Seeker2008: I need a program to convert .mpg files to flv for youtube?
It needs to be freeware and produce a quality that is low enough to upload to youtube, yet a decent enough picture and audio to see and hear it well enough. I have a DSL connection and uploading even a 100MB file is pretty crazy (over an hour). I’m putting up videos, but I’ve seen some people on youtube who had actual full-length movies in parts. How in the freaking heck did they manage to upload something that big, when I can barely get my videos to upload and be processed properly by youtube in flv format? Is there an easier program to do this with? If so, what is it? What are they using to do things like this? Maybe it will make it easier to put my insanely large videos into a smaller file size that I can upload.
