How important is music in a movie to you? Examples of good and bad?

Question by Gonzo: How important is music in a movie to you? Examples of good and bad?
Personally I think music can make or break a movie for me. Glory as an example has a phenomenal score and sets the perfect tone. Another example is comedies where there is this silly and childish music that just turns me off. Still another example is how comedies set a light tone like in Me, Myself and Irene, I love that soundtrack.

I don’t like movies that have to rely on a rock type soundtrack to give the scenes a little spice. Rob Zombie has done that a lot, and it shows (in a bad way).

The Dark Knight had a great score…..especially the electric cello sound that they used to create what resembled a siren that kept getting louder and louder.

A Clockwork Orange had a great score…although mostly Beethoven, the song at the beginning was the best part.
