how do i transfer music from limewire to windows movie makes?

Question by robert: how do i transfer music from limewire to windows movie makes?
all it ever says is cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

I don’t know much about Limewire as I’ve never used it. But be sure that you’re importing the actual audio files and not some kind of Limewire file.

If you’re sure you have the audio file (which I’m sure you are, just mentioned that as a caution), what you could try doing is change the extension on your audio files. Sometimes if you do not have an MP3 codec on your computer, you are not allowed to edit the file. You can try changing the audio file to .wav.

Here’s how you do it: Go to http://www.goldwave.com and download the free audio editor. Once installed, open the editor and then go to the File menu > Open > Find your audio file. If Goldwave accepts it and opens the file for editing, go to the File menu > Save As. When the Save As window comes up, look for the “Save As Type” drop down box and select Wave (.wav).

Now try importing the new .wav file into Windows Movie Maker. That probably should fix it (assuming the file you want to use isn’t corrupted). Good luck! Hopefully that helps.
