How Bathsheba Sculpture uses T-Splines for Rhino

This is a recording of a March 30, 2010 webinar entitled “Using T-Splines to create products and sculptures.” In the recording, Bathsheba Grossman gives an introduction to her work as a digital artist and sculptor and shows how she used T-Splines to make three of her intricate designs. Bathsheba Grossman’s designs have appeared in the New York Times, the London Times, Der Spiegel, and in TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential designs of 2007. A long-time Rhino user, Bathsheba added T-Splines to her toolset in 2009 to more easily create freeform designs Start: Overview of Bathsheba’s design process. Some thing she has done, and how she does them 11:13. Project 1: Beado “[Using T-Splines is like] modeling digital clay here. Which is kind of an astonishing way to work.” 20:30. Project 2: Shell “This model was made in T-Splines and then the mesh part of it was done in a completely different way. It’s a nice example way of how T-Splines can be friendly and interact with other things.” 29:13. Project 3: Whelk “[This model was made] simply working straight up in T-Splines. Making a T-Spline and then doing all of the surface modeling by just yanking those points, edges, and surfaces around in T-Splines itself as a modeling environment.”
