horrible story involving ADHD and psychiatrist?

Question by : horrible story involving ADHD and psychiatrist?
please read this before answering because i dont want any dumb answers please.

ok, so i was needing a refill on my vyvanse, so i scheduled an appointment with my psychiatrist. for some reason, they didnt have me down for an appointment AND you need to see him every time you want a refill on medication. unfortunately, he had no openings so i had to wait a week WITHOUT my medication to get to see him. i told him about the issue and he gave me a prescription for my meds. i didnt look at the script before i took it to the pharmacy. they filled it, and it turned out to be 30 mg. im supposed to be on the highest mg of 70. so i tried to take it back but they wouldnt accept an exchange because i took it out of the store. so i was stuck with 30s. i called my doctor and he said to take 2 of them. but then that left me with only 60 and i needed 70. so i made another appointment and he said that he wouldnt charge me for this appointment. they sure as hell tried to charge me but i got him involved and he took the charge off. he gave me a prescription for 70s. i took that to walgreens and they filled it, and since i am on the patient assistance program, i didnt have to pay for anything. i got home and i noticed that my friend had taken my 30s because i told him in passing that i didnt need them and i was going to flush them. he ended up selling them to his friends for 20$ a pill. this was all last month.

this month came along and it was time for another refill and guess what happened. the doctor gave me 30s again. again, i forgot to look at the script. i walked out of his office and as i was getting in my car, i remembered that maybe i should look at it. GOD DAMMIT IT WAS 30s. i walked back to his office stunned and upset. i walked up to reception and told them what happened. they said that he was in with another patient and i was like “fine ill wait.” i waited for 30 minutes before the doctor came out. when the doctor came out, i interrupted him before he could get his next patient. he took me into his office and filled out a 70 mg script. he told me that he would try and remember next time. i told him that it was ok because i usually dont make it a priority to bash people for making mistakes. i took it to the pharmacy and this time they refilled it, and everything ended up ok. but damn this has been 2 times that my psychiatrist has made a mistake. i usually dont change doctors just because of small mistakes, but this time it is becoming a problem. i think i will stay with him and if it happens again then i will change. but this brings up a good question about doctors and adhd medication.

my question is. why is it that in red dead redemption i cant drive a car?

Haha, I love you. I really didn’t expect that and I don’t know the answer. But I think you’re right to stay with him unless it happens again. Some psychiatrists see dozens of patients a day – it’s hard to keep everything straight and they are human so they will make mistakes. That’s why you have to be proactive about your treatment like you are being.
