Hirok Rajar Deshe – Bengali Movie – 1/12

Hirok Rajar Deshe directed by Satyajit Ray – Granted 3 wishes by the king of Goblins, Goopi and Bagha – Tapen Chatterjee & Robi Ghosh – posses magical powers. They receive an invitation from the King of Hirok – Utpal Dutt. Hirok named after the diamond mine, is a police state ruled by a tryant King. So much so, that the king has also closed down the only school run by an idealist teacher Udayan – Soumitra Chatterjee. Goopy and Bagha chance upon Udayan in a cave, who is in the hiding and plotting to dethrone the King. Knowing the real story of Hirok, the three decide to team up. Goopy and Bagha, aided with their magical music making, finally succeed in thwarting the King. Victory is acheived by the three, aided by the peasants the mine workers and Udayan’s young pupils.
