Girls are like apples…?

Question by theitgirl: Girls are like apples…?
You know that quote about girls are like apples…

Girls are like
apples on trees. The best
ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don’t want to reach for
the good ones because they are afraid
of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they
just get the rotten apples from the ground
that aren’t as good, but easy. So the apples
at the top think something is wrong with
them, when in reality, they’re amazing.
They just have to wait for the right
boy to come along, the one
who’s brave enough
to climb
all the way
to the top
of the tree.

…well i just turned 20 today and I have never had a boyfriend or been kissed or on a date..ever. And I have sadly realized that my teen years passed by uneventfully no drama well just crushes that i had that did not lead to anything. I mean people will probably say that it’s a good thing that i didn’t have to go through the relationship drama blah blah..but just for once i wanted to know what it was like to have a boyfriend, what it felt like to hold hands, to cuddle, to go out to eat, valentine’s day, movies with him, even a break-up (that’s a normal part of a teen relationship) all the stuff that teenagers did and continue doing around me (except for me). i sometimes feel like i can relate to janis ian song (seventeen) except for the fact that i’m not 17 anymore. I mean the teen years are the time of experimentation; testing the waters of dating so that when you’re in your 20s when people start dating more seriously or getting married your not awkward in the dating department. And what makes me more depressed is the fact that we just graduated from high school a year ago (2009) and classmates are already getting married (i mean i feel happy for them and all), but it makes me realize that i’m not even on square one (a guy attracte to me) much less square two (relationship). In the dating deparment, i feel like i am a girl of 13, i don’t know anything about dating and i act awkward around guys i like (like stuttter like a dummy, blush).

I guess what i’m trying to ask is, is it just me or does anybody else feel kinda this way? Am I a late bloomer, some ugly duckling or what?
because i feel like if guys don’t want to take the time to pick the apple at the top of the tree, then it’s going to rot up there in the tree waiting for someone to pick it and end up like a spinster.
