Even More Great Kids Movies to Watch In the Bunk Bed Pt. 2

The genre of animated kids movies is one of the most underrated of film genres. People think that it is a lesser form of film just because it is often made with kids in mind, but there can be some great wisdom, art, dialogue and stories in these children’s movies to parallel even the most powerful rated R dramas. Here is a list of some of the best children’s movies with humor, wit and wisdom to watch from your bunk beds.

Anastasia

For history buffs and little girls alike, “Anastasia” is an interesting animated children’s film because it deals with the very real and very ugly history of Czarist Russian before the revolution of 1916. The film focuses on young Anastasia, the daughter of Czar Nicholas II. The

interesting thing is seeing Rasputin, who in real life exhibited some strangely mystical powers and was reportedtly very difficult to murder, is the antagonist in “Anastasia.” The movie is great for kids of all ages no matter if they know about history or not and it is great for adults who are curious about how accurate children’s movies about actual historical events are. With voicework by Meg Ryan, John Cusack and Christopher Lloyd, you can’t go wrong with “Anastasia” for your next family friendly film night.

Flushed Away

This unique British animated film by DreamWorks was not the hit the studio wished it to be, probably because of its odd, slightly adult premise and characters. The film is completely computer-animated, the first for DreamWorks as opposed to mixing in computer and stop motion. The film follows the life of London rats, Roddy St.

James being a rich rat with a fancy apartment as opposed to the other common sewer rats. Roddy is double crossed by another rat and is pushed into his toilet where he finds himself in the dangerous sewers that he does not know about. The tradition “fish out of water” storyline is amusingly played by Hugh Jackman as Roddy and Kate Winslet as Rita his love interest. Sir Ian McKellen also makes a great appearance as t very large toad.
