‘Bomb factory’ house in Escondido area to be burned down- George Djura Jakubec – Geezer Bandit

George Jakubec, 54, had gone to US District Court, asking the destruction of his rented house in Escondido be postponed to allow his legal team time to retrieve evidence that might help his case. The home is to be burned Thursday. US District Judge Larry Burns said it would be “irresponsible” of him to allow Jakubec’s attorney, Michael Berg, or someone from his team to go into the home to conduct a search, given that bomb experts say it’s too dangerous for anyone to go inside, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported. “In good conscience, I cannot allow anyone to go back in,” Burns ruled. “I frankly think it’s just too dangerous.” An FBI bomb expert testified the chemical explosive HMTD was discovered at the residence in amounts “never seen before domestically or internationally,” the newspaper said. Berg said he may appeal the judge’s ruling. Jakubec faces numerous charges having to do with the manufacturing of explosives inside his home, as well as four bank robbery counts. Authorities have found a second homemade explosive and more of a type of explosive previously discovered in a house in an unincorporated area near Escondido, California, officials said Thursday.
