Q&A: What are some movies on DVD that have the best ‘making of’ featurettes?
Question by Jakenbocker: What are some movies on DVD that have the best ‘making of’ featurettes?
I am an aspiring filmmaker, and movies that have behind-the-scenes featurettes on their DVD’s are amazing to me. I just finished watching the 2 1/2 hour ‘post-production diaries’ from the 2-disc Special Edition of King Kong (2005), and it was absolutely amazing. I was just wondering about some other movies with great making-of featurettes. Any and all opinions are welcome!

The best ever is actually it’s own movie called Burden of Dreams. It’s a documentary by Les Blank about Werner Herzog filming Fitzcarraldo. It’s available on DVD from Criterion Collection and it has plenty of juicy extras itself. Most notably would be the documentary short “Werner Herzog Eats his Shoe” which is another film about Herzog by Les Blank.
